Why would we disconnect from ourselves? When we experience trauma or stress that is overwhelming to our sense of self, we disconnect from that experience as a survival mechanism. This experience or energy is then stored somewhere in the body until we are able to release it. SRI facilitates the integration of these alienated experiences by bypassing the cortical filters (rational mind over pre-rational mind) that we all naturally develop, helping to provide enough resources and safety to let it go.

The goal of Somato Respiratory Integration™ is to help an individual develop lifetime skills, safety, strength, wisdom and love in relationship to the experience of his/her body, its vibration, structure, and energy. Through reconnecting a person’s breath, touch, focused movement and attention, they are able to experience the body more fully and instantly shift their state of consciousness to one that supports trust for the body-mind and their life experience.
Somato Respiratory Integration™ exercises (based on Donald Epstein’s book (The 12 Stages of Healing) are designed to help the brain to reconnect with the body and its experience.
When I first started coming to you for treatments I was merely seeking relief for the pain in my neck and side. I knew intuitively that the pain was caused by stress and tension and I was desperately searching for an answer. My only hope at that time was that you could just “make the pain go away”. Well, you did that and so much more. The pain disappeared during Level 1, the first six weeks or so of treatment. I certainly enjoyed the wonderful feelings of relaxation after each treatment! I would return to work each afternoon with an “okay – whatever” feeling. During this time I experienced several difficult family situations, but I was able to make it through those with your help. - Judy Chirila | Loan Officer
