The dictionary defines coherency as, “united as or forming a whole.” In our last blog we spoke of coherency as it relates to us human beings and our ability to maintain that coherency between body, mind, and spirit, despite whatever disruption occurs. That disruption can come in the form of a microbe (bacteria, virus, parasite etc.), environmental stressors like being exposed to chemical toxicity at home or in the workplace - these are much more common than you think - mental or emotional stress, and even spiritual stress! If your internal self referencing signal is not strong enough you will be “knocked off your center”. Your optimal self will be compromised and your body-mind will start to contract and minimize your energy output in order to keep you alive! Your immune system will have difficulty distinguishing between “self vs. non self” (autoimmune conditions) and the downward spiral that most of us currently experience continues. We often experience this process as some type of pain or lack of function in our bodies. Typical treatment consists of managing the pain or symptoms so we can return to where we were before our lives were interrupted by the pain or symptom. Looked at from this perspective I hope it becomes clear why our current system of health care is failing terribly. See our last blog on the topic, here.
Let’s take Lyme disease as an example. Each year, more than 30,000 cases of Lyme Disease are reported nationwide, while studies suggest the actual number of people diagnosed with Lyme disease is more likely about 300,000, according to the CDC. This makes it one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the United States. The typical medical treatment is an aggressive antibiotic regimen which can last up to 6 months or more. There are also many holistic treatments available with varying degrees of success. The one thing that most of them have in common is they are all trying to kill the microbe. This can overload the body with toxins as some of the bacteria die off, thus backing up the body’s organs of elimination and causing further stress to an already overburdened system. (This is commonly called a Herx reaction.) A radically different approach is to focus on helping the person regain their own coherency. This focus on optimization and integrity of body-mind-spirit will give the person their life back without causing damage to the vessel that contains them. In other words, don’t treat the symptom; create more coherency allowing the body/mind to heal itself. The messenger can go away once the message has been delivered! How do we promote more coherency? More to come…
