We live in an increasingly toxic world. Not only is this true mentally and emotionally but especially on our bodies. Never before in the history of humanity has there been such increasingly high levels of toxic chemicals in our environment. New chemicals are created, produced and released into the planetary ecosystem every day with no testing or long-term studies for their safety. How many people have heard the story of grandpa, who lived to 90+ years of age and smoked cigars and drank whiskey every day. How does that make sense?
The answer lies in the level of toxicity that grandpa was exposed to and his body‘s ability to detoxify. Bottom line, he was exposed to less and was able to detoxify more. For each successive generation, their detoxification pathways are becoming more and more impaired. This is due to genetic mutations called SNIPS caused by the increasing level of toxicity we are all exposed to, which directly affects your DNA. So what do we do? We can follow these 10 Steps to Detoxify Our Home outlined by Canadian Scientists and authors of the book “Slow Death by Rubber Duck”. They created this book and list, after studying how the effects of chemicals found in everyday household items are absorbed in the body and affect our health. Yes, they discovered that our homes are filled with highly toxic substances. The good news is with a little attention and intentionality in product purchasing, we can greatly reduce our exposure and our body’s toxicity level. When you are approaching this topic, it’s easy to get completely overwhelmed. My advice, take it one step at a time. Start with one area and slowly begin to detoxify it and change out products. Over time you will see you have addressed detoxifying more and more things in your home until eventually it is as chemically neutral as humanly possible. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
